Installing Lotus SMARTSuite

IBM have taken over from Lotus with the SmartSuite product and it is still available

This program supports the following conversions

  • The version of Lotus Smart Suite OEM Version that was used was the millennium edition for Windows 95, 98 and Windows NT 4.0. It installed directly onto Windows 8 Professional 64-bit using the following steps:#
  • DO NOT run autorun, use the setup.exe application as shown below
  • Run the Troubleshoot compatibility. 
    It reports it will set the computer to run it in Windows xp Professional SP3 mode and there is a known compatibility issue with Approach 9. These warnings were ignored.
  • In this version of Lotus Smart Suite for Windows 3, AmiPro 3.1 was just required.
    The installation ran virtually from the CD disk onto Windows xp Professional 32-bit using the following steps:- The screen shots are different to those that are shown.
  • DO NOT run autorun, use the setup.exe application as shown below
  • Run the Troubleshoot compatibility. It reports that it will set the computer to run it in Windows 3 mode 

The installation directory c;\program files [x86]\lotus was used. Four Applications were selected.

Incorrect entries may be registered in the Registry

If after doing the installation, any incorrect entries are registered in the Registry, the Windows Action Center files will be corrupted. A warning from the Action Center will then appear on the tool bar,  This is how it is corrected.

Solution 1:

  1. Click on Start Menu and type CMD in search, from the results right-click on command prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.
  2. Type the following command: winmgmt /verifyrepository
  3. If you get a message "WMI repository is not consistent" , run the following command: winmgmt /salvagerepository
  4. This will perform a consistency check on the WMI repository
  5. Restart the computer.

If the above steps doesn't fix the issue, then please perform this steps:

Solution 2:

  1. Click the Start button, and then click All Programs > Accessories > Run.
  2. In the Run dialog box, type the following text:regsvr32 /u WMIUTILS.DLL
  3. Click OK.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Click the Start button, and then click All Programs > Accessories > Run.
  6. In the Run dialog box, type the following text:regsvr32 WMIUTILS.DLL
  7. Click OK.
  8. Restart the computer.

Solution 3:

  1. Click on Start Menu and type CMD in search, from the results right-click on command prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.
  2. type net stop winmgmt
  3. type cd C:\Windows\System32\wbem
  4. type ren repository repository.old
  5. type regsvr32 /u WMIUTILS.DLL
  6. Restart the PC
  7. type regsvr32 WMIUTILS.DLL
